The Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs is excited to announce its partnership with the University of California, Irvine Paul Merage School of Business. This collaboration will meet two needs: it will help our deputies and D.A. investigators better prepare for retirement through a series of investing courses provided by UCI and it will allow an underserved incoming ninth or tenth grader in one of our 13 contract cities to take part in the LIFEvest Financial Literacy Program.
The actuary, Paul Angelo, presented three recommended options to the Board and all of which included changing to generational mortality. AOCDS does not agree with the recommendations, based on a lack of credible data on the new generational mortality rate table and because of the sporadic changes in these rates. We believe we should remain with static mortality tables, but with the most updated version, until generational tables are more accurate on life expectancy and give us a better long-term prediction.

“We are sickened and brokenhearted over the unnecessary tragedy that unfolded in Las Vegas overnight. As we mourn the loss of the 59 victims and pray for the recovery of the hundreds injured in the mass shooting, we find a ray of light in the humanity we’re seeing in the aftermath of the massacre.
