Sergeant Medina was elected to the AOCDS Board of Directors in November of 2024. Sergeant Medina has been a member of AOCDS since 2011, becoming an Area Representative in 2022. Sergeant Medina was a member of the 2023 AOCDS Negotiations Team.
Sergeant Medina has been with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department since 2005. He began his career as a Sheriff’s Special Officer, where he was assigned to the Intake Release Center, West Justice Center, Security Bureau, and John Wayne Airport. After graduating the Orange County Sheriff’s Regional Training Academy, he was assigned to the Theo Lacy Facility, to North Patrol, and finally as a motor deputy for the City of San Juan Capistrano. He has been a Field Training Officer, Drug Recognition Expert, Motor Instructor, and Academy Instructor. He has also worked on the following ancillary teams: Major Accident Investigation Team, DUI Taskforce, Sheriff’s Response Team, Terrorism Liaison Officer, Cyber Liaison Officer, and UAV pilot. Sergeant Medina was promoted in July of 2023, were he was assigned to the Intake Release Center. Currently, Sergeant Medina is assigned to the Special Services Bureau in the Classification Unit.
Sergeant Medina continues to work as an Academy Instructor at the Orange County Sheriff’s Regional Training Academy, where he takes an active role in mentoring the newest generation of law enforcement from agencies across Southern California.
Sergeant Medina has an Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts from Fullerton College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology from California State University, Fullerton. He has also earned his Master of Science Degree in Emergency Services Administration from California State University, Long Beach.
Sergeant Medina is honored to be chosen to serve on the AOCDS Board of Directors. He is excited to bring his training, education, and experience to represent all AOCDS members.
